The Minted App is Launching Soon!

pink man

We’re very excited to announce that the Minted app is launching this summer! 🎉

At Minted, we’ve been working very hard to give our customers the option to buy gold from their phone. This means you’ll be able to buy gold on your commute, in bed, or while watching TV!

Why a Minted app?

Why are we launching a gold app?

Our mission at Minted is to make buying gold simple, accessible and affordable to everyone. As economies become more uncertain and currencies lose value, people are turning to safe havens to protect their wealth. But in order to buy gold, many investors are hit with complex contracts, absurd fees and huge minimum deposits.

With Minted, anyone with £30 can buy and own gold. And it really is your own physical gold: at Minted, we only buy 10 gram bars of gold which we store in a high security vault. This means that once you own over 10 grams, you can get your gold delivered to your home and only pay for shipping costs. This is different to other gold dealers, where you need to pay “fabrication costs” – the cost of smelting your gold into 10 gram bars.

Now with the Minted app, all you will need is a smartphone and £30 to buy gold.

Minted app features

When our app is launched, it will have several special features:

Set your “gold goals”:

If you’re buying gold to save for your children’s future, you’ll be able to create a sub-account in your main Minted account specifically for that purpose. This means you can easily split your gold into your own financial goals.

Sell with a few taps:

Through the Minted app, you’ll be able to sell your gold with a few taps, at better rates than on the high street. And once you own more than 10 grams, you’ll be able to get it delivered to your home!

Earn rewards and fun prizes:

Within the Minted app you’ll be able to earn “Mint points”. You can earn these points by referring friends to the app and buying gold. You’ll then be able to use those points to earn rewards, buy in-store merchandise and have access to gold at discounted rates. You’ll even be ranked on a leadership board, with winners getting exciting prizes. 🎁

Give the gift of gold:

What’s the perfect gift for a friend or family member’s birthday? Gold! With the Minted app, you’ll be able to transfer gold to any of your friends, even if they don’t have a Minted account! They can then use that gold for their own investments, or create a Minted account and spend it on whatever they wish. You’ll soon be invited to all the parties. 🎉

Save gold regularly:

Similar to the desktop version, the Minted app will also allow you to contribute to a monthly gold savings plan starting at £30. You’ll also have the option to buy gold in a lump sum, and set text or email alerts so you know when the gold price has reached a certain level.

Benefits of buying with the Minted app

One of the cheapest dealers on the market

Minted is a wholesale buyer. That means that we buy gold directly from refineries at the lowest cost possible. As mentioned above, we buy 10 gram bars of gold and offer investors to buy a portion of those gold bars. Once you own 10 grams, you can get it delivered to your home and only pay the shipping fee!

Thanks to our business model, we offer some of the cheapest prices on the market. Here’s a comparison table with our prices:

Highly transparent fee structure

Minted was founded out of frustration of the lack of transparency from other gold dealers.

With most other gold dealers you either need to create an account or spend hours searching the web to figure out what their fees are. With Minted, all our prices are listed in our Terms of Use clearly for anyone to see.

Not only are we transparent with our fees, but we want our users to understand gold and the gold buying process. For this reason, we don’t use jargon, no contracts are involved and there are no hidden costs. You can pause your contributions at any time and we will buy your gold back at better rates than the high street.

The ability to start small

Buying gold is a smart strategy for your investment portfolio – however, many of us are not willing to put in huge amounts of money into gold, and that’s fine.

With Minted, we wanted people to be able to buy small amounts of gold for reasonable prices. When you buy through us, investors can start with as little as £30: no minimum deposit, no contract and no joining fees. With Minted, anyone who has £30 in their bank account and (soon) a smartphone can have access to gold.

This means you can easily buy gold without committing too much: a good way to start an investing habit.

High quality, high security

At Minted, we take security very seriously. We receive our gold through the Nadir Metal Rafineri, a refinery that has been in the industry for over 50 years and is on the London Bullion Market Association’s (LBMA) Good Delivery List. The LBMA set the standards for gold carats and fineness, and are the world’s authority on precious metals.

Minted holds your gold in a high security vault that is fully insured by Lloyds of London. We are also independently audited by Alliots (ICAW) and our website is fully protected by Norton Secured SSL. We are also soon to be authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK.

We are incredibly excited to be launching the Minted app, and we look forward to taking every one of our users on a journey to making gold accessible. If you’re eager to buy some gold now, you can open a desktop account with Minted and enjoy some of the most competitive rates in the market!
